Your Postcode Areas

What your postcode areas are, where to find them, how to add one, and how to buy more.

Your plan covers a set number of postcode districts, and those are your areas. A district is the first half of a postcode, so CM15 covers every CM15 postcode and every street in it.

Almost every agent works a handful of districts, and your areas are simply those districts written down. They decide where your reports and Content Packs are made, which areas the assistant suggests, and which leads your campaigns treat as local.

Where to find them

Go to Workspace Settings, open the Billing tab, and look for Your postcode areas, just under your credits.

The card shows every area you cover, how many you are using, and how many you have left.

How an area is added

There are two ways, and neither of them can happen by accident.

By making something for it

The first time you generate a report or a Content Pack for a district, it becomes one of your areas. If it is a new district and you have room, you are asked to confirm first, so you always know when one is about to be used.

By adding it yourself

On the Your postcode areas card, type the district into the box and press Add. The button then asks you to confirm, and pressing it again adds the area.

Your first area is added quietly, without asking. Nobody's first area is a mistake, and there is nothing to weigh up until you have one.

Areas stay with your account once added. They cannot be swapped for a different district later, so add the ones you actually work.

What your areas change

  • Reports and Content Packs are made for areas you cover. Ask for one somewhere new and you are asked to confirm, or told when your areas are all in use.

  • The assistant offers your areas when it asks where something is for, and pulls live market data for them. Ask it about a district you do not cover and it offers to add it, rather than simply saying no. It shows your four most recent areas as buttons, and you can always type any other one.

  • Campaigns suggest your own areas first. Leads outside them are never hidden: they are marked Out of area on their record, and there is a separate Out of area audience so you can email them whenever you want to.

  • Instant valuations are not affected at all. Your valuation form works for any visitor, whatever their postcode, and every lead is captured and kept.

Buying more areas

When every area is in use, the Your postcode areas card offers extra ones.

Choose how many

Extra areas are £25 a month each. Use the plus and minus buttons to pick how many you want.

Check the amount

You are shown exactly what you will be charged today before anything is taken. Because the areas are added part way through your billing month, that first charge is usually less than the full price.

Confirm

The areas are added to your existing plan straight away. There is no second subscription and no second renewal date: everything stays on the bill you already have.

If you find yourself buying several areas, check whether the next plan up is better value. It usually includes more areas along with everything else.

Areas that switch off

If you ever hold more areas than your plan covers, the newest ones switch off rather than being deleted. They appear in red on the card, marked as switched off.

A switched-off area behaves as though you never had it: no new reports or Content Packs, no market data from the assistant, and its leads count as out of area. Nothing you already made is touched, and everything you published stays exactly where it is.

They are not gone. Add the room again, with an extra area or a bigger plan, and the longest-held one comes straight back as it was. The card offers a button to switch a specific area back on. There is also a small cross beside each switched-off area if you would rather clear it out for good.

If your workspace has no subscription on it, extra areas have nothing to attach to, so the card points you to the plans further down the same page instead. How many areas you can work comes with the plan you choose.
